Funny things about Swedish people - Part 2
Jeez, I really didn't intend to wait this long with the follow up of part 1. Continuing on the "facts" about Swedish people... You can find the other post here.
10 random things that are typically Swedish:
10 random things that are typically Swedish:
- You know you are from Sweden when you associate 3 pm on Christmas Eve with Donald Duck, and vice versa.
- You are attending a New Year's Party that suddenly takes a break when it is time to watch “Dinner for One” (Grevinnan och Betjänten).
- You don't consider a congregation of trees being a "real" forest unless it takes at least 20 minutes to drive through it.
- You think that everyone is allowed to walk in any field or forest. And when people abroad tell you it's private land, you don't understand and say "But, what about Allemansrätten?"
- You find it normal to have the headlights of the car on at the brightest and sunniest of days.
- You would happily catch the tube to the suburbs at 3am or walk alone through a park at night, but you'd NEVER ride in a car without your seat belt on. (Hey! OF COURSE you need to wear your seat belt!)
- Your non Swedish friends take the piss out of you speaking Swedish on the phone because every second word you say is "bra". (means "good")
- You get guilty conscience from throwing things in the dustbin that could have been recycled.
- You think that it's ridiculous to build houses from bricks. Wood is the real deal! (Here in the Netherlands it's the other way around, by the way...)
- When, while entering a supermarket in another country, find that you can buy alcohol…and you get the same look in your eyes like a child on Christmas. (This actually happened when my sister and her boyfriend came to the Netherlands the first time to visit us...)

I love that there will be an isle filled with sugary candy in every grocery store, but they won't sell Saltine crackers because they have too much salt. :) I used to have to send my bf crackers every few months.
